Our magic nacho dust combined with our famous carne asada makes for the best carne asada fries ever! Just be warned, a plate of these will get devoured fast!
In a small mixing bowl make the nacho dust by stirring together 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper.
Spread 26 ounces frozen french fries into a single layer on an ungreased baking sheet. Sprinkle the fries with the nacho dust. Toss to make sure the seasoning is evenly distributed.
Bake the fries for 10-12 minutes or according to package instructions, until fullu cooked through.
Scatter 1 pound cooked diced carne asada over the hot fries and top with 4-6 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Bake in the oven for an additional 5 to 7 minutes, until the cheese is fully melted.
Remove from the oven and divide into desired servings. Then top with 1/2 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup guacamole, 1/3 cup chopped fresh cilantro, 1/2 cup fresh salsa, 1/4 cup sliced or pickled jalapenos, and 1/4 cup diced red onion as desired. Serve hot.
Notes
For leftover french fries, spread into an even layer on a baking sheet, toss with nacho dust, and then spray very lightly with nonstick cooking spray. Bake at 425 degrees for 5 to 7 minutes until warmed through and crisp. Then proceed with the recipe.
